Active Contour Model to Detect Linear Features in Satellite Images

چکیده
Active contour models are used extensively in image processing applications, including edge detection, shape modelling, segmentation and in general to detect object boundaries. They are curves defined in the image domain that can move under the influence of internal forces within the curve itself and external forces derived from the image data. Many versions and improvements have been proposed since then, in an effort to improve on several aspects of the original finite difference implementation. We present preliminary results of a wavelet based active contour model for detecting linear features in satellite images The method combines multi-scale decomposition and edge detection in a fast-converging iterative scheme. As an application, coastline retrieval from a SAR image is illustrated. * Corresponding author. [email protected]; tel. and fax: 39 89 964366.

Salient regions detection in satellite images using the combination of MSER local features detector and saliency models
Nowadays, due to quality development of satellite images, automatic target detection on these images has been attracted many researchers' attention. Remote-sensing images follow various geospatial targets; these targets are generally man-made and have a distinctive structure from their surrounding areas. Different methods have been developed for automatic target detection. In most of these met...
متن کاملDetecting nets of linear structures in satellite images
Fast recent progresses in satellite imagery have made available high resolution images can be analyzed with computer vision techniques. A large part of civil engineering objects appear as linear structures (e.g. channels, roads, bridges etc.). In this paper, we present a technique to detect linear features in satellite images based on an improved version of the level set extrinsic curvature. It...
متن کاملA New Structural Matching Method Based on Linear Features for High Resolution Satellite Images
Along with commercial accessibility of high resolution satellite images in recent decades, the issue of extracting accurate 3D spatial information in many fields became the centre of attention and applications related to photogrammetry and remote sensing has increased. To extract such information, the images should be geo-referenced. The procedure of georeferencing is done in four main steps...
متن کاملA FILTERED B-SPLINE MODEL OF SCANNED DIGITAL IMAGES
We present an approach for modeling and filtering digitally scanned images. The digital contour of an image is segmented to identify the linear segments, the nonlinear segments and critical corners. The nonlinear segments are modeled by B-splines. To remove the contour noise, we propose a weighted least q m s model to account for both the fitness of the splines as well as their approximate cur...

Roads are significant objects of an infrastructure and the extraction of roads from aerial and satellite images are important for different applications such as automated map generation and change detection. Roads are also important to detect other structures such as buildings and urban areas. In this paper, the road extraction approach is based on Active Contour Models for 1-meter resolution g...
